Our next chapter

A coastal kind of forever

We are getting married in 2027, and this little corner of the site will grow as the plans come together. For now, we wanted it to feel like these photos: warm, natural, a little windswept, and full of the people and places that make us feel at home.

Where we'll celebrate

Our reception and our home base for the weekend — an oceanfront landmark that has stood on the sands of Palm Beach since 1896. We hope you'll stay here too, so the days run together: steps from the water, long dinners, slow mornings, and nowhere far to be.

A little history

Henry Flagler opened the hotel in 1896, and before long guests were asking to stay “over by the breakers,” where the waves came in — and the name stuck. Two fires, in 1903 and 1925, took the early wooden hotels, and each time it was rebuilt grander than before.

The Italian Renaissance landmark standing today opened in 1926, designed by Schultze & Weaver after the Villa Medici in Rome, its ceilings hand-painted by Florentine artisans. More than a century later it is still owned by the founder's family — one of the longest-running family-owned resorts in the country, and now a small part of our story too.

Where most guests will stay

Our pick for most of our guests — a boutique hotel right on the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront, and about a two-minute walk from St. Ann Catholic Church, where we'll say our vows. Wake up, wander over, and you're at the ceremony.

A little about The Ben

The Ben takes its name from Ben Trovato, the 1892 home of West Palm Beach pioneers Byrd Spilman Dewey — one of the town's first authors — and her husband Fred. “Ben trovato” is Italian for “well invented,” from a saying that goes, roughly, “even if it isn't true, it's a good story.”

Today it's a 208-room Autograph Collection hotel and the first on the downtown waterfront, with a rooftop pool and the Spruzzo bar looking out over the marina — and, best of all for the weekend, the ceremony just around the corner.

The Blue Heron Ballroom at The Ben, set with round tables, white linens, and chandeliers, overlooking the Intracoastal marina.
